Coffee Machine
May 18, 2007
Today we received our brand new “Boema” coffee machine, and I’m looking forward to sampling the goods later. But first, a few tips on your research before you go ahead and purchase a coffee machine. Ensure that you have enough space, sounds silly but it is true they do come in various sizes & power 10, 15, or 20 amperage, you won’t be able to just plug it in and go. You will need a registered agent to instal the machine thats for sure. Also take into account the capacity of the machine, i.e. how many coffee’s do you need and how often.
You will need to choose between 1, 2, or 3 outlets. Then you need to decide on a brand of coffee. Depending on what bean Arabica or Robusta, are the most common others include Liberica and Esliaca. The Arabica is considered the best. Although the Robusta produces a better crema Many mass-marketed blends use a mix of Robusta and other beans to keep the price down. The labelling today is done in great detail, with often the type of bean, the country, region & sometimes the estate it was picked. From this you can then search for your particular favourite. Some highly prized beans will be auctioned. The choice is very much personal taste & prices do vary so shop around. Some companies will set you up with cups, umbrellas, road side signs, etc all great, but watch out for the minimum amount of coffee you need to order regularly… you do not want to be storing tones of coffee. The beans will only loose flavour over time, and it will hurt the bank account!! But the most important thing is that someone needs to understand how to make a proper good coffee. You will pay anything from $3.00 upwards for a cup of coffee these days so if you want returning customers, that “go for coffee†(take this tip) make it a good one, with that all important crèma. The crèma is the coffee oil that is extracted when the hot water is flushed through the ground coffee. We are talking about the espresso method from the new machine that you might one day invest. I am definately not this best coffee maker but I do enjoy a good one, a Barista is like a good chef worth there weight in gold. But thatsbest left till another time.
