Rockhampton Goosehorn blew it!
I recently took an American visitor there. We ordered a salt & pepper squid entree to share ($14.95).
It arrived with four, count them, four pieces of calamari.
When the waitress was asked about it she said, "It because of market prices and that!"
When I emailed goosehorn to complain, I received a "mail delivery" message!!!!

I had the pleasure of dining at Meglomania a couple of weeks ago for a midweek lunch. As the visit was not planned, we had no boking however the staff and the premises were well geared for impromptu dining. The staff were extremely friendly, and the open layout of the premises gave me a feeling of belonging. Within seconds of ariving we were shown to our table, after of course other seating locations were offered for our choosing.
The table side service was great and menu's appeared immediatly.
We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and the selection was exciting and varied as far as meals were concerned. The price of the meals was exceptionally good value, however, we were hit a tad for the drinks. We will definetly be returning to try the evening dining experience. A great big two thumbs up - thats tops.

I have to say, John, I totally agree with you. I had my 21st Birthday lunch at the Rockhampton Goosehorn. I went there because it was new. I was wearing a big bagde that said 21 TODAY! so i assumed that me and my 8 guests would be attended to with great enthusiasm. BUT THIS WAS NOT SO. Goosehorn made my birthday SUCK!!! When we walked in the girl that was seating us was moody and said that nobody knew we were coming even though we had called ahead and made a reservation. This must have annoyed her because the whole time we had to get her attention to serve us and when she did eventually serve us, all she did was snarl at us. There was no one else in the resturant and we still had to get her attention. When our meals arrived which seemed to take forever they were not at all up to par with the prices. I had a pumkin and fetta lasagne and it was like it was floating in oil. But i have to say that my meal wasn't half as bad as my guests had received. One had a discusting smashed pumkin salad thing that she couldn't stomach it was so gross so I ended up sharing my lasagne with her. I ended the meal with a hot chocolate THAT WAS COLD! When we all left I told the girl we would never go back there and that I would tell everyone I know never to go there. I can safely say that no one I know has been back there since. So my job is done!

I'm happy to see that Rockhampton has finally got itself a restaurant that can truly be called great. I went to the South Rockhampton Goosehorn (the one across from the Mobil) last night and had a wonderful time. The service was impeccable - the place is pretty popular and staff were kept on their toes, but we were greeted promptly and never once had to look for our server, which is pretty much unheard of in Rocky's restaurant scene.

The ladies took advantage of the $5 cocktails - no problem for us men since we were paying. The men opted for the Heineken, which Goosehorn has on tap, and which came perfectly poured in a special glass.

But the food was the highlight. There were eight of us, and we pretty much ordered everything on the extensive tapas menu - I thought the chorizo was the best I had had outside of Mexico - and it arrived promptly, accompanied by all the side plates and dipping sauces each dish required. We didn't have to send our waiter back for anything, but that didn't stop him from coming by regularly see if we needed anything.

I haven't mentioned the ambience here, but the two giant torches out front are not misleading. We sat on comfortable, expensive leather lounges amid all the excitement of George Street, which truly seems to be re-inventing itself as the place to be in Rockhampton. Hooray, Rockahmpton finally has a place to be! All kidding aside, Goosehorn truly is an enchanting place

I have eaten at goosehorn on several visits to the thriving town of Rockhampton now, and feel I need to add my two cents worth. My job involves a lot of travel and I eat at some fantastic places and some not so fantastic places. I went to goosehorn only last weekend on my way through town and ordered the sexy scallops as an entree, and (under recommendation from the head waiter) the seafood pizza.

The service was excellent, the meals were served rapidly and there was never a moment where I was sitting wondering why my glass was empty... All meals came out and were spectacularly presented and tasted fantastic and certainly above the quality I am used to elsewhere in Rockhampton or QLD for that matter. I think the prices are on the higher side, but as long as the consistency is there I don't mind paying for quality. I would eat there again and will be eating there again on my way through town!

Its sad to see so much negativity about the goosehorn & that many people have had bad experiences.. considering we havn't had any! Its just suprising!!

My partner took me and my son to the Goosehorn on Southside Rockhampton on Sunday 11th May 2008 (Mothers Day) for lunch thinking that it would be a nice spot to have lunch - a little bit of a celebration. Not only were there not enough staff for the amount of customers that were there, but the service was disgusting, the food was awlful and arrived 1 hour after we had ordered and the service was non existant - to say the least. We paid $53.00 for our lunches yesterday and the food was so bad that i would not have fed it to my dog. My son ended up burning his hand on the plate that they served his meal on because the staff had neglected to tell us that the plate was EXTREMELY hot! Your Goosehorn Burger is tasteless and has no flavour and my son ordered the nachos with just mince and cheese and let me tell you that i have never had anything that tasted so disgusting in my whole life. The mince is drowned in tinned tomato sauce and that is it. His corn chips were burnt beyond recongnition and i am guessing that is how the plate ended up so hot. The service was shit to say the least and in the end i had to get my own drink orders as the staff did not approach our table again after taking the initial orders from us. We watched three tables leave without ordering because the service was so poor and after overhearing another converstation we found out that there was a 40 minute wait on all meal orders. Not something that was told to us when we arrived. I will never go back to the Goosehorn again - at those prices i cannot afford to be paying for crap meals. I have made a huge effort to tell everyone that i see that the Goosehorn is crap and not to eat there. A friend of mine has cancelled his reservation for next Saturday night because of what i told him of my experience on Mothers Day. I am ex-hospitatlity and i know what good service and food is suppose to be like and let me tell you that the Goosehorn does not even come close to what good service should be. The best chefs in Rockhampton my arse! As far as i am concerned you are fausly advertising your restaurant when you say that you have the best chefs and food in Rockhampton. If you don't do something about the food and service in your establishment soon there will be no restaurant to eat in. As far as i am concerned we should be refunded the cost of our meal as it was not worth paying for.

@ Amelita, Thank you for commenting Squishy, I had to go to the big smoke of Brisbane for this course, like you in Townsville, Yeppoon is a bit small for this type of course, and yes I did have some fun. I don't get to make as many coffees as I would like but hey I still love to drink em.
@ Jessica, You're on, Things are ticking along, would like a few extra pairs of hands though, good staff are hard to find.....as you well know. Thanks for commenting
